Music is everything to me. I like to take pictures but not trying to be a photographer. Austin, Texas is where it's at!

Normally when I’m like, “Katy is copying Gaga,” I’m being facetious and trying to make people laugh, but I’ve noticed something going on with Katy lately. Everything Katy’s been doing with her new song and “era” are things Gaga explored during the Born This Way Era. Now I’m not saying it’s a big deal or anything, I’m just curious as to what goes through her team’s mind when deciding to do something incredibly similar to what Gaga did a few months prior. I mean, these are not things that are vague, these are very specific ideas, themes, and outfits that Gaga and her team came up with and whole-heartedly committed themselves to, so it’s not like you can say it’s just a coincidence. This isn’t coming from a place of hatred, it’s coming from a place of confusion becase I just don’t understand their thinking. Like, most of the things Gaga did during the Born This Way era turned a lot of people off, so why would they risk that when they know Katy’s career is solely reliant on people liking her and not being turned off by her actions?

I just get this feeling that Katy’s team doesn’t get what makes Gaga so insanely successful. People like Katy’s team seem to think that the only reason Gaga is as popular as she is today is because of her crazy outfits and actions. No, the reason millions of people have connected with Gaga on such a personal level is because of who she is and what she stands for. No matter how many “Gagafied” outfits you put Katy into, she still doesn’t possess the drive and passion Gaga does and she will never be able to pass herself off as a genuine act with genuine feelings and passion for the arts.

“You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.”

Amen. Preach. God bless this post. The clap.

Ten years ago my son was born weighing just 1 pound 6 ounces. He fit from the top of his head to his rump perfectly in my hand. I know this because the day he was born I was his nurse who admitted him into the NICU where I work. For better or for worse, his bio parents walked away after he was born fearing that because of his extreme premature birth he would be damaged. Two days later I realized that I had fallen in love with my patient. Two weeks later my husband declared that he too was in love with this baby boy. Two months later we held him in our arms for the first time named by the court as his foster/adoptive parents. He weighed just 2 pounds then. Two weeks after his 1st birthday the adoption was final and he completed our family circus. To celebrate I had my very first tattoo, an exact replica of his inch long footprints taken at birth to represent the saying “Not flesh of my flesh, Not bone of my bone/But still, miraculously, my own./And never forget for a minute/You weren’t born under my heart, but in it.”
